This book is great in describing the origin of National Lampoon and how it set the stage for Saturday Night Live and all cutting edge humor today.

Hilarious!!!!

Time has perfected this book. Twenty years ago internecine squabbling might still have obscured its perspectives. Even ten years ago we still might not realize quite how insanely cannibalistic our comedic history has become. This book has some of its best moments as a cautionary tale, but it is also an elegy and an even-handed retelling of the hotly-contested publishing industry gossip-mongering of the day. For anyone like me who lived through the age and knew some of the people and events that the book recounts it is a visceral and ultimately re-calibrating experience. If you are anywhere near tabulation in my male baby-boomer cohort you'll love reading this book.
